juddering when cruising, 1995 mk3 golf tdi

my golf seems to judder when on light throttle, when you put your foot down it seems to reduce greatly, even disapear

anythoughts? im inclined to think its the fuel pump but im unsure

also what engine is it? its defo a tdi

whats the pump set up on these? lift pump from tank, then fuel pump - filter -  to engine bay? sorry my first derv out of 14 cars iv had.

filter should be in the engine bay see here

there is also a vacuum hose fix in the ecu you should check out if the fuel filter doesn't work.
