Yet another "wrong fuel" post
« on: September 30, 2009, 01:09:47 am »
Yep! After 10+ years of driving various diesel vehicles on a daily basis I finally fillled up with the wrong nozzel..   AS it is now very early Wedensday morn and I already have about 30 hours logged at the shop I was feeling lazy and decided something with an auto trans would be nice for the ride home..  Of course the go-go juice gauge was dancin between fumes and walking.. Pulled up to the pump and after about 5 gallons I came to the realiziation, I'm driving the Crown Vic..  ::)

I pumped 12 gallons of gas in it, and drove it..   Smokes a bit... ;D

Luckily I was in the loaner '91. IF it would have been my '99 I'd have been pumping the fuel out on the spot....

You know you're a diesel nut when you put diesel in a gasser. How'd you get the nozzle to fit in?

My brother used to run maybe 5% bio in his gas Chevette.

When my dad was still farming he had a 275gal gas tank here for various whatnot...  It had the leaded gas nozzle on it so any vehicle that ahs been here since then has had the filler neck mod.. Convienienly a disel nozzel fits well too..

That's actually a rather good idea... A little extra lube for the cyls and it'll keep everything nice and clean..

Surprisingly the 28% diesel I have in there isn't having alot of effect on it.. It's a bit rough and sluggish when cold and smokes rather significantly all the time, but otherwise not undrivable..   And no tailgaters either..  ;D

I know I need to make a conscience decision to grab the gasoline nozzle when I fill my '73 VW bus up. No mistakes yet.  :)
