That does look like it would fit. The ATP manifold I have sticks back farther- I'm also using a MUCH bigger turbo.

I'll try to get those pics. I took some a while ago, just been so busy I have not had time to upload them.
Though it looks like this one would work great.

I'll sort the close up pics ASAP
No radial play at all but slight axial as to be expected with a used turbo, the wheels dont come into contact with the housings either. With oil pressure this play would dissapear i imagine.
I've not applied vaccum to the actuator but the vanes move freely, I'll take the can off and check too! it should move with noting more than a slight knock!

Thanks for the quick reply -
consider it sold if it all checks out (fin condition), I'm anxious to see pics.
Finally got a pic uploaded, not that it really helps now.

It's gonna be close....

If that bad boy fits this will!
Wheel pics:

I'm on holiday from the weekend so will have to pick this up after then!

Update: It fit. BARELY! I had to "massage" the passenger side brakeline a bit, and actually dropping the engine in was really close- literally jammed it in there- plus it would have been smart to keep the oil feed line detached until the engine was in place... but we are in good shape now! Fabbing the downpipe will be an adventure.

So yeah, this turbo should fit with plenty of space.

It appears from all the data I can find that this is the same turbo that comes on the passat 2.0 TDI that we have have here in the states.
It also came on any longitudinal mounted 2000+ 130hp european passat tdi and maybe some pre 2000 A4's as best I can figure.
I think OEM part # should be 038145702 E/G/N
Can you confirm this Ryan?
Thanks
