I must admit, I spend HOURS here while at work, Have done so for the last couple years..

For a while the site was blocked, well I'm good friends with a few of the IT guys so I asked quietly if they could Un-block it...BAM!!! I was back in business!!
One of them ran a report and told me I was here for 9 hours one day  ;D

Oh well...

You guys need to know how to use portals in the workplace.  ;) It works as most IT guys won't block them so they can surf the net at work too.

portals, aka proxy servers are usually blocked by SmartFilter. That said, like girly photo sites, they can't possibly know about all of them. I was using http://translate.google.com to read Russian sites and with English > English as the conversion, so I was able to surf sites flagged as "Time wasters" for what ever reason. Now they have this google site flagged as a Proxy...   I tried to nudge the guy responsible for our filter appliance, but he would not take the bait.

As a computer security expert, I have setup and repaired these filters as was knee deep in it when it was created because the first woman that got millions because some guy was opening surfing the girly girly sites. "Hostile work environment" the lawyers call it.

I'm going through diesel withdraws at work now :-(

you can get around our computers at work by downloading a copy of firefox mobile on a thumb drive and putting it into the usb port of the computer and surfing through the thumb drive without ever going through the company filters.  works at home too because it doesn't leave any history on your computer.  Not that anyone here has anything to hide :-X
