Priming Injection Pump/Injector Lines (IDI)
« on: September 15, 2009, 01:22:17 pm »
I just wanted to post this up since I had a heck of a time with this.

Last week, I re-sealed my IP (many thanks to the person who created the link in the FAQ about this!). I installed the IP back in the car (84' Jetta) last week and began the process of bleeding the IP and injector lines (I had removed the lines completely to clean/polish them a bit). I filled the IP with 50/50 mix of ATF and diesel through the outlet hole. I verified that the pump was sucking fuel by leaving the outlet bolt out and cranking the engine.

Injector lines 2 & 4 primed rather quickly, but 1 & 3 wouldn't.

Injector lines 1 & 3 are the top 2 lines coming out of the head of the IP.

I removed the stop solenoid, and air bubbles met me with a nice "pop". Cranked the car a bit to fill the solenoids hole and push out any remaining air. Car started right up with minimal cranking.

Just wanted to help out anyone else that may be searching for the same thing I did this past weekend.
