Oh, here's the deck with the HG still on it

and my fan just FO fun

It's been cold enough lately that it hasn't come on but i tested it and it flows like a MOFO~!!!
Have you pulled the rings off the pistons yet? What sort of shape are they in? Where is the source of your rings?
I have yet to take the pistons out of the car. But I will take pictures when I do!
I half expect one or more of them to be broken but the walls of the cylinders still look recently honed, which is good i guess but maybe i sabotaged my self by switching to to synth too soon.
This time im going to wait at least 10,000km before i switch to synth oil i think.
What sort of hone have you used? I ask because after building several engines with less than happy results, largely ring seating issues, I started using Brush Research sized brush hones. I have a collection now. Do the research and reading to find out why they are superior to anything else. All the manufacturers use them. I have been really pleased with the fast ring seating that they set the conditions for. They are available from Canadian distributors too so you don't have to diddle with customs and shipping. Try them. One hone pays for itself if you don't have to open the engine again due to ring seating issues.
Ooooooooooooooo|
I had used a ball hone...
Thanks for that tip!!!

Hopefully it will fair me well as it has for you.
I spent about 30 minutes spinning the valves on my drill with some grinding compound today
Good tip : shove a piece of rubber hose over the valve, make sure its dang snug! and then turn a drill bit into the other end of the hose and let'er rip. feed lots of compound into it while it's spinning moving the valve on and off of the seat.
This is a video of the blow by the day i took it apart.
