Limited Slip Differential...need recommendations

Anyone run a Peloquin or Quaife limited slip? My trans is out right now and I'm considering buying one. Anyone now the pros and cons to each?

pros and cons of limited slip? they suck in the rain if you are throwing power to them. basically its instant posi-traction, just add power. josh (Powered by Spearco) just bought a nice LSD for his drag car. might ask him about it and where he got it and paid for it.

Quaife and Peloquin are essentially the same type of differential, the driving experience with both will be identical.  Peloquin's are generally a bit cheaper and most of what I have read says they are also more durable.  But Quaife was the first one in the game with FWD VW's.

Thanks, that's what i needed to hear. I'll be getting a price from a local VW performance shop to do a rebuild with a Peloquin.

There's a guy in Auburn that builds VW transmissions he's been doing it for many years now and he is very reasonable. pm me if you want his number. I wouldn't be surprised if you he could hook you up with a good used LSD.

I  notice on his site he says he's booked into 2010.

I got a price of around 1300-1400 for a complete rebuild with a peloquin for my AVX trans. Think i might go ahead and do it.

ouch. theres guys rebuilding transmissions for 500 bucks in oregon. theres a few good shops in portland that rebuild transmissions cheap. but you are somewhere else. and that seems like an aweful lot just for a rebuild and LSD install.

The peloquin is costing me 875 alone, and around an other 400-500 for the rebuild. The diff is what's costing so much.

ok, that makes more sense. but uh, if i ever do something, im just gonna do an 80% mini slip in my transmission. i think its less than a hundred bucks for one if you can find it?

I think Brian is to the trans what Giles is to the IP - a master craftsman. He has been quick in the business I have had with him. I'd get on his list if you want a quality job.

I'm going with wavetrac - You can fin them for under $700 all day long and the company support is fantastic, from what I've seen.
