Idling boost control solenoid MKIII.
« on: September 06, 2009, 08:44:29 am »
Hey guys....

I just got my air con fixed, its an MKIII 1.9TD AAZ. But that solenoid that increases the revs when the AC is turned on doesnt work. I did replace the solenoid with a brand new one and it still doesnt work.

I ran a test with a test lamp and found out that the socket is giving out positive current but no negative. Would anyone know what can possibly be wrong?

Any assistance is appreciated.

Cheers!

is that so??

Perhaps thats how it controls it. When the ac is turned on, it just give -ive to the solenoid and it does its job?? because +ive was there irrespective of the ac being on or off.

i dont think so, pretty sure they switch the pos+ side of it instead of the neg-. because if we had all these live pos+ wires all over the place, lol.. i dont even know where im going with this, but the point is, usually the neg- is constant and the pos+ is controlled by the switch.

yep positive needs to be switched, your wiring is busted somewhere, possibly blowing out the ground to the solenoid on the exact point of short.

Its supposed to be triggered from the A/C magnet clutch wire, which is a positive switching thing on Vws with oldschool A/Cs

any input of wire colours would clear somethings up too

Thanks Zulfiqar for your input. I will have a look at the colors and get back.
