Is there a way?
« on: September 05, 2009, 02:14:39 pm »
I'm wondering if there is a way to make a AAZ "Fly". I had my buddy's 2.4L Cobalt SS today...I threw it in 3rd and hit 160, 4th 180, 5th, 215 and it topped out....That whole process took about 30 seconds from 100kph, is there anyway I could build an AAZ too Keep up too or surpass that. I know I'll need a Giles Pump, and a Good turbo, but is it even possible or Am I hoping for too much.

gas engines have an instant explosive power with way higher rev range. diesels have less explosive power because the fuel we run burns so much slower than gas. with a gasser, screw it, just make it spin more rpms. but with a diesel, we cant just make it spin more rpms, my car will turn 6500 or 7k pretty easily, but it quits making power at about 5500 rpms or so. power used to drop off above about 4500 before i did the gov mod.

and another thing about the cobalt SS, they are supercharged, not turbocharged. the supercharger is making boost the second you mash on the gas. the turbo is not. thats another reason for their quickness.

its a Cobalt SS 2.4L which is an N/A. the Supercharged and Turbocharged ones are 2.0L motors. I was shifting at 6500RPM for that. So i'm  guessing I'm not going to get a diesel that fast that quick...I'll make it thou to kick his ass on the 1/4 mile since hes time is only 17.2

As I recall, earlier Cobolt SS's where supercharged, while the later ones were turbocharged.  They did make a change.

First Gen SS are supercharged, Second Gen SS are 2.4s NA, and the new Third Gen SS are Turbo. The Design of the Cobalt never changed, but the SS First and third came with the Highrise spoiler.
