FS: 1991 Eco diesel Clean! LI, NY Runs and drives! Inspected!
« on: September 02, 2009, 01:01:44 pm »
I have a 91 Jetta Eco diesel, Quite a rare car!

Cleanest Mk2 VW I have ever owned

Everything is OEM or VW besides the battery

Original cassette radio!

210K on the body/engine

Timing belt by VW 15K miles ago

New battery, tires, wipers, tranny flush

Tie rod ends, ball joints, Wheel bearings

rear undercar ATE brake proportion valve, pads, some new brake lines

Brake fluid flush (IT'S CLEAR!!!!)

Run on synthetic Mobil -1 changed every 3K miles

3rd owner

Interior is MINT!  No saggy headliner, seats look BRAND NEW! Clean light gray carpet!

Paint is Good, Dark teal Green, little damage by the DS rear quarter where it looks like there was body work before, everything else is original

The car shifts and drives like it is new

Starts right up!!

Doesn't smoke!

Some rust around the windshield

Needs a few little things to be 100% But I can do them before the sale

Lots of $$ invested, a few extras I can include to sweeten the sale

Brand new from VW non cat downpipe also on the car, I have the old cat one,  I also spent a few $100 on the correct undersplash shields new from VW with the correct hardware

Looking to get around $4500 but maybe I'm crazy?  Make me an offer, I really would like to get rid of one of my cars

I have a ton of HD photos my friend took on his SLR

I am unsure of how to post them on here at the current time

Email me or post if interested

CASH TALKS!

Yes it is Jimmy. The shot was taken in the Borders parking lot. There is a VW meet there every Wednesday night around 8:30. On Saturday nights we meet there and then cruise out as a group to some activity. This Saturday we are going to the Go Cart races on 112. Stop by sometime before the weather gets too cold.

Well I am off next Wednesday. Maybe I will come down with the 09 TDI.

Would love to go to the go-carts on 112 with you guys, but I have to work tomorrow night.

I'll check out your link as well.

Thanks.

Stay safe, stay well. Jimmy.

That's a good looking car for sure.

I don't blame you for wanting as much as you can get for it.

I had a pretty clean car that was BUILT very well with top grade parts, ARP studs, Total Seal rings. Recaro interior, Keskin wheels, KYB struts, Nuespeed springs etc etc etc etc... $4500 was HARD to get.. I did a little better than that but damn it was tough...

Good luck and hang tough. If your not selling it because your broke you acn get what you want for it..

OMG!! That brings back memories, I grew up in Sayville. I haven't seen the Smithtown Mall in 32 years!!!

Jerry GTD,
Nice Eco, Good luck with the sale, I'd try for $4500, I'd say it's worth at least $3500, Avg Joe wouldn't give $100 but, but, Avg. Joe doesn't get it, meanwhile I wouldn't take $8000 for mine. Kind of funny, when my brother asked if I was going to take advantage of "Cash for Clunkers" (because that is all he sees), I told him, I couldn't even if I wanted to because it got higher MPG than anything out there currently. So the Gubmint didn't even want to give me $3500-$4500 for it.

If I had the dough I'd buy it for the grille badge!!!

I would buy this in a heartbeat. However, money is tight. VERY tight with a wedding in 2 weeks (it was a good long run being single....lolol). And I have so much money invested in my 89 that I will NEVER get back, so I'm getting it up to Tyler in Scarborough where he has an engine wating for me, and some other work (electrical, 'Gilesfied' IP, exhaust, etc, etc, etc). I just got a quad headlight setup WITH radiator bracket for $100.  Though it will be hard to drive the 89 after driving the 09 for almost a year.....lol
And this (going to Canada) may have to be put off until after the wedding (Sorry, Tyler, I will let you know).

Then maybe some new front fenders and a possible paint job, and new carpeting as well....

As posted, a VW shop in Maspeth gave me a price of over $2k just to do the rings (the general consensus on here was the compression rings were shot), and for what I can get done up north still comes under the $2k price I received. Besides the commuter car, it is now a 'hobby car'. And the VW fix I have like the rest of you have......lol

If you have been away from Long Island, it has changed. One reason why I am looking forward to moving upstate, and will use the 89 for my  NYS 'Thruway Cruiser' to go back and forth to Brooklyn..lolol

Stay safe, stay well. Jimmy.

Hi Ziptar,

Thanks but I am not selling my ECO. I was just pic whoring it out.  :D The original poster is selling his. Mine looks pretty similar to his but as you can see I am running the original turbo diesel grill badge. I live in the next town over from Sayville. Small world.  Cash for clunkers definitely does not apply to our VWs.   ;D

@ Jimmy  Congrats on your wedding and I hope you get the 89 back up to speed and on the road again. Let me know if you need any help.
