Okay..so I'm slowly rebuilding my Jetta's engine and I need some rings. I've found so many brands and have done some research but haven't come up with a clear answer. I need some standard sized rings and I'm not sure which brand to buy. Any suggestions? I know there are Goetze, Grant and one other whose name has escaped me. Any help is greatly appreciated.
From personal experience I have had the best results with Grant and Goetze rings..
THe other brand that I have used are Top Line, and I was not happy with them both times I used them.. The one engine had low compression and drank oil, the other ran fine and had decent compression, but drank oil... Neither of these engines were rebored, but the bores measured fairly decent, not great but acceptable. Upon tearing both of the engines down again, and replacing the top line rings with Grant rings the compression and oil consumption was fine...
Anyone had experiance with the total seal gapless 2nd rings?
The other brand I was trying to come up with was Cofap. I knew Topline was questionable...

Yup.
Love them!!
Running great after much abuse..
Blowby is all but non existant now..
I've used Goetze with surprising success, esp on non-bore jobs.

What other rings are u running with those?
If you do end up choosing to go with Goetze I can supply you.
They're $85 for the whole set.
I can get you grant too but I'm a bigger fan of the German parts myself.
X2 on the Goetze rings. I was really surprised at how high-quality they were. Don't know how they will run yet.

I did not bore, just hone and go.
Bought 'em from that guy ^^

I have the full set from Total Seal.
Just get the Goetze from Myke, they will work fine and I'll bet ya a dollar he has them in stock where you will have to wait forever for the Total Seal rings to be made.
You cant go wrong buying from Myke
