How hard is it going to be to convert my rear drum brakes to Disk? I have a 98 Wolfsburg with rear disk Brakes on it and I'm thinking of ripping them off and putting them on the Golf. Will it work or am I setting up for disaster.
Cake!!!
Do your swap. Best to get the proportioning valve and master cyl as well as the master is larger for the 98.
So the rear disk and calipers will bolt right up? to the brake lines
No they wont. You need the hard lines that are mounted to the rear axle for a rear disk application as well. Rubber lines from them to the calipers.
Have you ever seen hard lines to a caliper? I sure haven't.
Basically you need everything from a disk brake car to convert yours in order to do it correctly.
How hard just to Swap the Rear Axel? lol I have the WHOLE car lol
there a company out there that makes a drum to disc convertion kit for $499.99 USD its not no brembo brakes but is much better then the drums, because drums a dumb..lol..I think they are made by MSD i think, but comes with caliper, disc, caliper mount, and lines, i think, not sure, would have to look into ur self, but that is u want new.
How hard just to Swap the Rear Axel? lol I have the WHOLE car lol
It wouldn't be to hard to swap the axle as long as it's the same width etc etc.
Still need the prop valve and master cyl to make it a complete conversion.
I have a 98 Jetta Wolfsburg that i'm getting ready to Part Out. I would have all the parts I need to swap it, i just want to try and figure out what kind of job i'd be getting my self into/
