Injection lines. Sources?
« on: August 15, 2009, 12:44:16 pm »
I had the end crack on the #2 cylinder at the injector.

In my "stuff" I had 3/4 of a set of lines. Not that one, though. So one of the lines got butchered into fitting, there in the parking lot, and I'm mobile again. For now.

Any sources for built up lines? I have a bud with access to a flaring tool, but the line is a bit of coin. Add to that the standard grade PITA to bend ...

Are the lines available from other than dealer sources? NAPA? Part number?

 1990 1.6TD Jetta, FWIW.

Or is it a wrecking yard adventure. Again.

 Cheers

eBay store "MK1 Autohaus" sells whole sets for $60.  He also sells individual lines.  Dealer cost for a set is around $225.

Looks like I found a useable line, locally.

I have replaced this line once about six months back. Either I got a dud line (it was used) or I didn't have it installed as free from misalignment as I thought I had.

Really, I was careful, and did install the straps as per...

If this one goes, I will look at a new set from the source on Ebay, I suspect.

435000 kms and counting, and somewhere around 45 mpg. Not bad for a car that was essentially a freebie!

Thanks for the info, both of you!

 Cheers

be sure to have the rubber vibration isolator mounts on your lines. there should be 3.

Hmmmm.

Had two for sure, one with 4 lines, the other with two lines.

I'll check and see if there is marks from another two line clamp around.... I have a couple in my bench, IIRC.

 Thanks for that!
