door mirror help needed
« on: August 14, 2009, 04:05:29 am »
Ive just scored some nice mk2 door skin mounting door mirrors with the 3 cable remote system, my car has the quarter glass doors and it didnt have the remote ones, so there is no hole in the door trim and neither do I have the retaining bracket for the controller.

Does anyone have some pics of their quarter glass doors with interior trim (door card) removed so I can fabricate the retainer

Thanks

what happened to the doors on your car that the mirrors are going onto? use them to mock up and build brackets?

My doors are good - they originally had the mirror which just screws from the outside, the new ones I got have a remote adjuster with three cables, its supposed to go into a metal sheet bracket that mounts onto the door itself from the inside behind the door trim panel, my door doesnt have that bracket.

Just a slight threadjack, I can't help with the quarterlight door pressings, but do you have the  "mirror fairy" on your side of the pond? In the UK often usually friday nights the die cast aluminium bracket that holds the mirror magically disassociates into two pieces, leaving the mirror to be discovered in the morning dangling pathetically limply. The temptation to wire a detonator, mercury switch & necessary power inside the mirror housing in order to discover if there is a rational explanation for this puzzling occurence. I will assume human toes and blood scattered about will disprove the "mirror fairy" theory? ;D

Oh yes - the mirror fairy, who doesnt hate her, Infact I met her but she was in "yob form" who was busy trying to nick the mirror from my Honda, upon which I paid my tributes with a friendly bloody nose and a cute purple slapped face, now Im a big lad tipping the scales at 18 stone ergo the yob didnt agree it to be friendly contact

I have done that in my friends car. But I had the bracket as well. My friends car is in Lahore and he himself is in Quetta so wont be able to show u the bracket.

If you have all the parts, its a two minutes job!
