Update on clutch problem

I'm trying to put a 200mm clutch into a FF trans(81 Pickup) Put a new pressure plate and disc in. Disc was not compressed I guess, could start it in gear and run, no movement. I have 2 flywheels 1 027105273D and 027105273, D is thicker-taller than other. The new PP is 1/4" thinner-shorter than other. I had the flywheel torqued down, trans bolted up no problems but no clutch. Checked push rod same length as other 5sp I have. Never had a clutch pronblem like this. Haven't tried the OEM PP yet, thought I'd ask you guys. How can I check it before installing trans?

Stupid question, are you sure it's in gear? got a linkage problem on the shifter??  OTher thing is take the clutch cable right off and see if you still can start the car in gear. Might be a cable problem, not letting the clutch engage. Did the release rod move okay when you had everything apart? Hanging up in the released position maybe?

I pulled everything apart. Installed another pressure plate, like magic now I have a clutch! There was a 1/4" diference in the depth the pressure plate face extended into the flywheel. I don't know if I can use the other pressure plate at all now.

Glad to hear you found out what it was and got it fixed easily.  I put a 4 speed in a Chevy Nova in the late 60's once with a high-performance clutch and started it up and had nothing, just like you did.  I didn't know at the time there was a long and a short thowout bearing, things were pretty simple back then.   I was using the original long one and it compressed the pressure plate installing the trans., that one had me puzzled for a while too.  Just write your pressure plate off as a cheap learning experience, there will be more to come and they never stop.
