That Ted Kennedy thing is funny, a little bit in poor taste perhaps. Especially for using the victims name. Nowadays the family would sue so fast it wouldn't be worth the risk.
Strange marketing too considering I have associated aircooled VW's with lefties my whole life. In hindsight that is probably one of the things that attracted me to VW. I remember feeling shocked and betrayed when I saw a VW (even a MKIV) sporting a "W the president" or a "Bush Cheney 04" sticker.

National Lampoon got sued i think for it back in the 70's when they ran it. Think it got thrown out of court.

Damned Lampoon. Forgot about them. The things they put in that mag..
Knew it couldn't be a real ad. I remember the uproar over the 'Frito Bandito' ads.
This would have been worse.
Thanks for the reminder.
Stay safe, stay well. Jimmy.
