1990 Jetta 1.6 IDI, Bilstein vs Boge or what else?

Hey volks, my struts are sloppy and I think the next link in my upgrade chain.
Are Bilsteins worth it, or should I go with a cheaper insert?

Thanks,
Matt

How hard will you drive this thing?
Boges are fine shocks, assuming you mean the sports,
not the oem replacements,
but Bilstein sports are the best shock in the world.
(in my opinion)

What do you want to do with this car?
Look cool, go fast, both?

I have run on: Jamex, Boge, Bilstein, VMAXX, BC Racing, Sachs (for GLi) and probably a few others.
I think coilovers are the only option anymore.
Raceland coilovers are like $300 on eBay, and are better than most of those shocks and most of the aftermarket springs.
A set of Bilstein Sports are a little but better shock but actually more money than this whole complete bolt in unit.
For under 500, you get all of the look, and almost all of the performance of a Bilstin PSS9, the coilover champion since I can recall (also always $1200-1500 since I can recall.)
