Recently acquired a triple gauge setup out of a gasoline Cabriolet - got the whole setup with the wiring, gauges, and senders.
Now I have the large two prong oil pressure sender that has the integrated low pressure switch. I went to replace the single sender I had with this one and it does not fit as it hits on the oil return line from the turbo. Likewise where there normally are extra spots above the oil cooler for the oil temp sender, with the oil return line occupying one spot there is nowhere for the temp sender to go.
Any suggestions for getting these senders installed? Would rather not drill & tap other locations. Perhaps some sort of expander/manifold where I could put both of them off one port and extend out beyond the return line at the head?
A couple of thoughts:
- the contact on the dual-port oil pressure sender is likely the wrong pressure *and* wrong polarity to replace the pressure sensor currently on your oil filter flange. You can use a multimeter to test for sure... the contact would need to be OPEN with no pressure.
Assuming my suspicions are correct, it will however replace the pressure sensor on your head just fine.
- there's a couple companies that make "oil pressure relocation" kits (Draft 42 for example) and others make M10x1 brass tees... VDO for example.
This page is from a Canadian supplier but it will give you the general idea:

- oil temp sender is tricky to relocate since you want it in a flow of oil rather than at the dead end of a tee or relocation kit.

I was trying to locate the large dual sender on the head, not the filter flange. The return line passes by below the original sender on its way to the flange, which is what I'm hitting on.

Yeah, I'll have to look into one of those kits...
As for the oil temp sender, would it even make any sense to have it off the head, or just near the oil filter/cooler? I don't see any real way to tap in another port at the filter flange, but could possibly tee off from where the pressure sender down there is.
Here is where i put my oil temp sender that i got from prothe. It blocked the oil passage at the location near the filter. I kept my low pressure warning sender and have replaced the one that goes off at higher rpm (or what ever it is?)

NOT HERE

Because my sender is longer than the stock sensor.

Measure your clearances with your senders. Very important.
