Which one? If it's the rear trans one- the one under the master cylinder, then you have to also remove the top bolt for the front mount and lift away. If it's the front one, maybe remove the rear mount bolt and vice versa.

The rear mount that attaches to the diff is bolted on with 3 13mm bolts. They are accessed from the passanger side of the diff. Take those out and you should be ok. You'll need to undo most of your shifter linkage as well

I'm assuming you are talking about the rear driver side mount

I do it all the time removing the front mount bolt and using a floor jack under the trans

The rear mount that looks like it is cast into the tranny comes off.

you wer right there are 3 13mm bolts ont tother side

well undid it all to find out that the bracket/bar that comes from the top of the gearbox above the clutch release barring had broken off due to aluminium errosion  SO i bought a second hand derv gearbox from a mk3 aaz engine and replaced the housing which the bar/bracket attaches to and hoped i had solved the engine movement problem and guess what... NO BLOODY CHANGE.. AAAARRRRRR
what the hell can it be ive replaced all the engine mounts brand new and it still jerks back and fourth

please help

its ok i have found the problem.
it is the driveshaft that is on its way out driverside/offside
and ive just bought a mk3 golf 1.9td with the aaz engine which has only covered 86k half what my 1.6 has done
