I have a 1980 Audi 5kS diesel with the 83 turbo diesel engine, and I am swapping out gauge clusters from stock one to the turbo diesel one. I have everything hooked up and working besides the tach and GP light. Does anyone know where the sender for the wires would be on the engine? Also, Where is the glowplug relay and what wire runs the glowplug light on the dash? Thanks in advance, and even if anyone doesn't have any experience with this exact car, ANY advice will help! Thanks!

its driven from the W term on the alt just like most diesel tachs. bust out your test light, start probing for the wire that lights up with the glow plugs.
Ok, so I had to replace the alternator with one from one of my bad engines to get the W post. Does anyone have a good link to a write-up detailing how to add one to an alternator without one?
Also, does anyone know where the oil temp sensors are on these things?
oil temp sensor is right above the front drivers side motor mount.
I didn't know VW idi engines have engine oil temp senders???
volkswagens dont have oil temp senders for what i know. but these audis sure do have them. kinda neat having a tach, boost gauge, and oil temp gauge already.
