Finished blocking the last panel tonight

And hit it with primer.

Next up is the interior, which obviously won't require quite the same level of attention, and a quick wet sanding of the exterior, and then hit it with high-build primer aka spray on filler, then guide coat and block like mad.

Made some progress on the trunk floor tonight. There are a few small rust holes to weld up, then I'm gonna start working my way forward with POR 15.

I cleaned up the floor below the back seat. I had a mess of rust to clean up on the passenger side between the wheel well and the door.

Painted with POR 15.

What are you using to remove the paint and rust prior to painting?  A wire wheel on a drill?

I tried the wire wheel initially, but it was basically useless. The rubber seam sealer and the carpet glue are just too stubborn for it. The carpet glue is especially a nuisance. If you get it hot, you can move it around, but when it cools it's back to being just as sticky as before.

I have been using one of these in a die grinder to some greater degree of success.

I then follow up with those 2" coarse brown  scotchbrite like disks to get in the tight spots and then do a quick 80 grit sand with the random orbit.

The rear passenger floor pan area is what two hours with the above wheel gets. I'd get more done if I had a bigger air compressor. I'd say I get about a 50% duty cycle with the die grinder.

Thanks for the info.  I think I have some of the same to be doing on a Caddy I just hauled home last week.

No problem, and happy sanding. A (I assume diesel) caddy! That's a nice find!

Very nice! I'd be jealous of the deal you got, but clearly I have my hands full. I'm looking forward to seeing it progress.

But to answer your question, even if it comes with a gasser, you can always swap a diesel in. Caddys are rare enough around here that they are all worth good money.

Tonight's activity.

Uncovered this rust hole. Should be easy enough to patch.

Got the next section cleaned up

and painted.

close-up of the rust repair.

started on the driver's floor pan tonight. There are a couple of rust holes to repair, but they are difficult to make out in the photo.

photobucket is so greedy, you can barely use their website or app because of all the advertisements and now they want to charge for third party hosting when there are a million other sites who will host for free.

Phuckobucket.  What a dick move...  I'd rather pound screws into my toes than give them any money... ever.
