Stealership Stories!!!! (Any Car Brand)
« on: July 20, 2009, 07:24:21 pm »
Ok So i'm going to start this off...

On friday we went to local Hyundai Dealership (woman owns an Accent) and spotted a nice set of 17's with tires on an Amazing deal 300$ :o...threw a deposit on them since we couldn't afford that much in one shot. Parts and Service manager called us this morning "The District Service manager was in and picked up the rims and tires and is going to give us a voucher for them so we can put another set on the car they where on". The rims initially came on an Accent but got a bit scuffed on delivery.

So I LOST my temper...Called the main company that owns the dealership same story, Hyundai Canada...no help as of yet. Called the Manager...well...heres what I got... I said "So you must of heard of the issue this morning" Manager "Yeah, a young lady and guy came in on friday and put a deposit on a set of rims, and a different rep sold them this morning...." Me "WHAT!?!?!?!" then his story changed from that...When we arrived at the dealer, then they explain what happen...they sold them to someone else, even thou we had put a deposit on them. They offered our deposit back but you can't even get 14's for that price. So after some agruing and fighting with them all the stuff they offered us was; a replacement 14" rim for the damaged one on the car, 4 all seasons at dealer cost 77$ a piece. Of course we refused. He offered us a set of Falken 205/40Z17, Used(1000km on them) tires we needed rims(Called the local tune shop, over 800$ for the tires alone) but we need rims. He initially offered us 50 on a new set of rims however that turned into a free oil change(like we are going to go back there). Priced out new rims 650$ installed on the car...

The worst part about all that was they lied to us because of course we are a young couple. So I emailed Hyundai Canada in attention to the District manager since he was kinna involved in this...he doesn't know thou lol. My goal is to get them to chip in on the rims even thou they don't have to but it was their mistake they made and we are on the (profanity removed by moderator) end of the stick...

well you put a deposit down on them and they owe it to you.  but it isn't any different with many other stores... i know some salespeople who will sell stuff being held for people just to get the 'sale' then some people come in and get pretty angry when their stuff isn't there... but they still get the deal when the next shipment comes in.

the guy who screwed up is gonna get in crap for this one lol... and i bet they will give you your original deal too AND a free oil change!  with top of the line $1.99/litre dino oil!!!  :D

If it was the orignal owner... and this would of happened, 1 quick phone call and we would of had 4 new rims the same day, but he sold it last year then the dealership went to hell and went bankrupt then came back under a new name. We have a free oil change with them but not going to due it since the mechanic at where the car was bought is a friend of the womans family.

I don't think the District manager is going to be happy when we gets the email and find out they blamed something on him...I'm not done yet, We had to leave the dealer because we were getting really pissed off since they wouldn't even honor the agreement but I should settle it tomorrow...I hope

Its ok, I'm tired of dealing with them. We gave up, The Manager is a moron and kept cutting me off when i'm trying to talk. And the district manager thinks that the issue was addressed well...

Here is the email convo between me and customer service. All dealers are independently owned and operated. So Hyundai Canada can't do anything. HOWEVER once our rims come in, we bring in the bill of sale and they will give us a check for part of it. Not Much but its better then nothing. ;D

I take it you didn't get any type of printed documentation for your deposit?  Keep on them and they should eventually give in + extras.

A Honda dealer once tried to replace the entire AC system on a relative's van at a cost of $1000 when it was fine and only needed an r134a recharge.

A nearby BMW dealer wanted to replace my ignition cylinder and related immobilization components for ~$950.  I did it in an hour for 75.

They've gotta make money somehow, but it often seems like daylight robbery.

just a receipt for the for the deposit, and all it says is 75 on mags and tires on it. nothing about how much they are. I'm tired of dealing with that dealer.

Well, I firmly believe that stealerships' mechanics are no longer mechanics, but parts-swappers.  :-\
