Peugeot 306 1.9dt, engine rebuild.
« on: July 19, 2009, 01:24:12 pm »
Hi guys.

Started progress on this little project i have, building a 1.9 D8B TD engine capable of 200bhp (or as near as i can), last week as i have a bit more money coming in so thought i would get this long lost mission underway lol.

(just to let people know before ***ing and say whats the point , just buy a new vag or somthing , i just want to build it as a project and to say Ive done it.)

this month i have started on the head, next i will build a D8B block, possibly take it too lions engenering and see wat we can do with it ( in regards too uprated parts + reboring)

2.1 crank maybe

Next i will need a bosch pump ( tuned with gov mods and 11mm head and more i hope ) - D8B block - Jac`s Super Hi Flow bosch injectors - Bosch duratec glow plugs - toying with the idear of a metal/copper head gaskit ......

so after buying the Newman diesel cam a while back i have now had a spare head rebuilt and cam fitted.

total cost so far:

Newman fast road Cam - £80

Fitting of cam, new valve seats and new seals , skim and test, total head rebuild - £150

few pics,

looking too buy the turbo for the build and was wondering what flow rate i would need .

im going for a vnt turbo,

and i have a few size options, witch i found readily availble on ebay,

GT1749v
GT1752V

GT1849V
Gt1852V

or something in the 20 reign, what do you recon??

That's a sweet engine to build on, in stock trim I think it's far better than VW's AAZ which is the one you should compare with, both being 1.9L TD IDI's.
I'd look into what difference there is between the turboed XUD and a non-turbo since the n/a has a 5450RPM redline and the TD only 5100 or so? Maybe the intake is better?

Also, I don't know if you have the IC on top of your engine? I had a Pug 405 with that setup and now I have a Pug Expert van and it has a lot better intake with the IC pipe coming in over the engine top in the center of the manifold. The IC itself is a huge FMIC, if that set up fits your 306 maybe you should go with the IC and intake from the van...

currently running the 1.9dt engine in my car asides from this build , and it is a nice engine, especily now its runing to its full potential (thanks pete lol!), sat at 27psi now lol, needs turning down a tad i know lol

i currently have the 406 dt manifold and a big FMIC, running well i just need more low down power and hopefully the cam and the turbo will help :)

newmann cams recon that there cam will alow the engine to rev too 6500rpm, allthought i wouldnt go past 4500 lol.

Peugeot 306 1 9dt engine rebuild

Can anyone tell me what the real cost of a proper engine rebuild which will last the same or better than the original engine.

Assuming that the motor will be stock without mods.

Who is the best person/shop to do a drive in drive out rebuild service in Sydney?

Thanks.

Peugeot 306 1.9dt, engine it would be good to see how long it would last with 200hp , thay dont seem to be very strong in standard form , the scrapy allwas has 8/ 9 engines with holes or bust cams , but the bosch pumps are nice to work with .

Time for an update?  :o ;D

I'm running 1.2 bar, turned down starwheel, the boost pin in the steepest setting and slightly turned in max fuel screw (1/8-1/4 turn) on my Expert van. Would be nice to have some more power  ;)
