I bought an 86 Jetta TD from that guy last December in Cali. I think he used the cash I gave him for the Jetta to buy that Beetle. I don't know what he was thinking cause that Beetle must be a real turtle, worse than an NA Vanagon.  ::)  I think the repairs the Jetta needed were beyond his technical ablility so that's why he sold it. Pretty cool guy though just the same.

I can't imagine trying to take that on the highway... what is that, a lawn tractor engine?

That would be a blast!! I bet a turbo would help it some ;D
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

man that car would suck to drive.  for the slowness it should give at least 60+ mpg otherwise its uncool...  that thing could use an electric booster motor in a hybrid config  :D

a friend of mine put a tdi in an aircooled beetle and said it handled like ***, cool but not cool...

he said he was going to put a fox tranny in and make it mid engine but the customer wasnt into it.

i still think the car is cool in a unique way.
