1997 Audi A4

Hi all
I left the IDI world and a 120 bhp mk2 golf (aaz with boost pin mod, and a vnt THANKS jimfoo and Bert) and moved to a bog standard 1997 Audi 4 running a TDI 90 bhp engine... Shyte!
I was on the verge of purchasing a crashed vw golf to rip its bowels for the 130 bhp PD engine they housed and nail that in but decided to refrain my overkill instincts and try to be sensible, rational, and maybe learn a thing or two... (as i did with the idi golf i had... every bhp extra i got from standard i learned it from here!) not to mention save a few bucks, and maybe not take 5 years to finish the project!
So i humbly ask for your help on what are the basics of TDI (or links to basics threads) and what i need to do to get it to move a bit faster than a shopping trolley ... i'm looking for anything between 120-140 bhp, nothing starship enterprise-ish

I would start with these two facts sections first.... and then go from there. Essentially everything you need to know will be located on these two pages.

" cant get. Damn you corrupt EPA.

Thanks Kane... just what i asked for!
and re. Malta, basicaly what the VW dealer can't get you... you take a trip to mainland europe and buy yourself! but the 1997 audi A4 here is one of those white elephants of motoring, useless and no one wants them! the v6 petrol bi-turbo is fast... and so is the 1.8 turbo (both gas) but the diesel (i only managed to find the 90 bhp version on the island) is very very very very slow! Maybe its even worse since i'm used to driving around 120 bhp pulling 900 kgs as opposed to 90 pulling 1600 (ish)! so hence me banging head on wall. Its funny how quickly you get used to a fast car and shun everything else!

From your experiences... which is the most value for money chip+injector combination? i have 110 injectors from a 1996 golf running around so that bit's sorted if you say .205, what chips do you know of that are tried and tested??? Also i have acess to VAG-COM and have been using it for a year but i cannot find any areas where you can actually alter the running of an engine! (apart from a bit where you can minimaly advance and retard pump)

you should really ask these questions over at TDI club. But the General consensus is chip... see if you like it, the injectors and re-chip. Then replace/upgrade your clutch because it's probably started slipping by now. Unfortunately I don't have a running TDI so I haven't gotten really involved in the engine performance upgrades yet, I just
love diesel
. and read a lot about it.
