I know this has been discussed before but I can't seem to dig it up in a seach.. How much fuel would one of these VE pumps be capable of scuking up at say 4,500 rpm or so..
A friend of mine works as an engineer for GEA/Flate Plate.. They have some new variety of heat exchanger he's been nagging my butt to try with my WVO setup.. Apparently it's rather small and crazy efficient.. But he needs to know how much WVO I'm gonna be pumping though it to get me the properly sized one..
you could find this out by yourself.
get a recipient with diesel in it, put a fuel hose in there and measure how much it draws for some time.
the result is L/h or whatever unit you use

you can leave the return going to the tank or into that canister as well
I would need to know the amount of fuel moved.. I was hoping that someone might remeber the thread from long ago..
If I remeber correctly it was about 8 gallon per min but I guess I'll be testing again to be sure... I think most fuel filters are rated for a max of 8-10 GPM so that must be in the ballpark...

no way in hell. fire your car up and pull the return line off the tank, there isnt hardly anything coming out of the line. there is no way these pumps can move that much, least not from what i have seen. took me 4-5 minutes just to fill up a quart jug with the return from my pump.
How about 8 gallon per HOUR..
That gallon container test woudl be great if I had an easier way of trying this with the engine under a load and not having to worry about the darn thing dying in an intersection..
The test was so simple once I ran my wvo tank empty and things clicked.... Switched it to purge the system (suck fuel from the diesel tank return it to the wvo tank).. Did my typical hour drive home.. The WVO tank is 8 gallon, and the gauge read full when I got home.. Pulled the inspection cover and sure enough it's full....

Actually it should be 9 gph or a tad more pending on how heavy my foot is.... I didn;t consider the fuel that was burned... Roughly I burn one gallon of diesel to make the drive.. Probably a bit more on WVO.. Since this is going to be for the WVO I'll factor in driving like an idiot and 10-12 gph should be about right on...
Makes the heat echanger calulations work much better.. He was figuring it out this morning and called me up stating somthing must be wrong.. The required hear exchanger would be HUGE to handle that...
