• All the jetta and golf gtd's i have seen have rev counters but mine dosent nor does it have gti seats, but it does have an intercooler which makes me believe mine is a gtd, Is it just poverty spec or is it not a gtd ,

• my GTD didn't have GTI seats but it did have a rev counter. what year is your car? i think i still have the clocks from it but it was the later one with just the one plug. if i have them i'd sell them or swap them for an earlier set with the 2 plugs

• in France the GTD is a spec. you could get the RA/SB engine with the IC but not with the GTI interior (and some comestics on the outside). Commercial 2 door (2 seat) Golfs are one example.

• Take the chassis number to main dealers, they can tell you everything about the original spec and options of your car.
  
  Has it got the water cooled turbo - that's normally a good sign.
