Got a complete clutch assembly (looked like new ) from Caitlin Cava a week or two ago. Finally got around to tearing the car apart on Sunday. Decided to turn the flywheel surfaces (about 35 thou cleaned it up pretty nice), and since it was already on the lathe, we took .500 off the ring around the outside. Kept some of the ring, there was 2 slices cut out of it for balancing, so we left that part. Bathroom scale says stock was close to 14 pounds, now goes about 10 pounds. Seat of the pants driving home 1/2 mile from my buddy's shop says it revs a little quicker, but I'll need to drive it a little more to make sure. NO more clutch slippage! Thanks Caitlin.
BTW, it amazes me how bad my clutch was and still drove the car. Worn so bad the pressure plate fingers were wearing out against the springs on the disc, it was only a matter of time before either the springs came out of the disc or some pressure plate parts came loose and jammed things up!
