It just kinda fell in my lap, ouch
« on: July 05, 2009, 10:14:20 pm »
so I had a friend who's into aircooleds, he's scrapping this 84 jetta td that he just removed the motor/tranny from.  he says get it out of here, so now i'm trying to get this home.  properly titled, tagged and ready to go as soon as I found an engine.  And I think I found a  full running 1.6 n/a/tranny already for next to nothing.  I really wanna to do this car justice and get a td in there, but it'll hafta wait.  anyhow some pics of my new addition to the fleet.  just gotta go get it.   ;D

need a right side taillight....

motor was getting a new home elsewhere, a syncro bus if I remember right.  can't remember what he told me.  he only took off the grill while he was talking the motor out.  he did a good job of getting it out. rest of the car is just really fricken dirty right now.   ::)

So, as much as I would hate to see that car get crushed...

I'd like to buy your grill. And the cluster. And the lower dash with the 3 gauge console. Throw in the seats too, they look like they are in good shape. So... how much shipped to 92003, pretty please.  :)

I will also be in Yreka later this summer and I am willing to meet you anywhere off the 5 between there and Salem.

went a took a good look at it today.  its looks to be in pretty decent shape.  heck, i'd take any four door mk1 for free right now, especially a german made 84 jetta four door.  everything looked amazing, I thought.  It has lots of little dings, but will clean up nicely I think.  the motor removal was perfect in the sense that no wires were cut or damaged.  i arranged for it to be delivered to my driveway sometime for next week for a small fee, so i don't even have to worry about that 45 mile trip now ;D.  so for 75 shipped.  this is what I got the title for today.

nice headliner

Does the Doka Run & is it  A syncs :o... because if that bad boy was in need of a new  heart that's what I would be investing my love & money into not a MK 1 Volkswagen. Jettas are a dime a dozen but transporter trucks are so rare Ive only seen 2 in person in my life

There are quite a few synco's in the UK still.

I do like the old Caravelle's but the wife says NO   >:(  My uncle had one and it was lovely for us kids ( back in the 80's like) we could play in the back all day and not be bored on long trips.

Glad to hear you had it delivered. It you had towed it with the front wheels on the ground w/o axel shafts, the wheel bearings would have disintegrated on your way...

WOW !! Good find for a perfect price !!

yeah, its great that my friend is a perfectionist(he won't even paint a bus anything but the OG color ;D).  he cut the axles and bolted them in there, so he can roll it around.  the amazing thing is that this guy had no intention of doing anything other than sending it straight to the scrapper, yet he went through all the trouble of disconnecting and not cutting anything.  he has to take a bunch of buses to the scrapper next week sometime, and since my house is right on the way, he told me he could just drop it off.  lucky to have such great friends in this little corner of the world. :P  can't wait for it to show up, so I can start on my new project.
