I am so mixed up after reading all of the posts about clutchs.
I have got a 1.6 GTD, as its the CL it has the biggest turbo the t3. Has AAZ injectors, AAZ camplate in the pump to inject more fuel per stroke, boost turned up a bit as well as fuel etc. Has metal AAZ headgasket upgrade and a new 210mm gti 8v clutch upgrade to deal with the extra torque.
BUT
that my second clutch in 4 months
Do i need a mk2 16v clutch kit
please help

Search for 53 willeys build and read about his clutch.
Both he and I went with Clutchnet.net.
My little 1.6 was really pissed off and my clutch held fine.

I ordered a spec stage 3 clutch from 034 motorsports.
I really should have called southbend clutchs and had them make me one instead.
What are you doing to wear so fast? You dont dump the clutch in FWD cars, you want it to slip from the line (gets rid of wheelhop and spinning the tires.)

side stepping/dumping the clutch also puts an enormous amount of stress on the rivets that hold the material to the disk.

In the last page or so of the build in my sig line I have the clutch zukgod is talking about. I got the info from 53 willys and him. I will check the basement for part # but it is a small 24 spline hub I believe, but if you are already in a 210mm you know that. I got the red pressure plate and 6 puck sprung hub disc, hopefully I will use it this month and let you know.
Clutchnet part #s 47793R11 for the pressure plate
1533CR194 for the 6 button ez lock clutch disc.

No, I am gettting a 1.9L flywheel. They make a clutch for the 1.6L flywheel, but I wanted the most holding I could get.

I want to use the 210mm clutchnet pp & clutch but can i use the stock flywheel? If not what would be a cost effective solution 83-84 gti flywheel? please help tryimg to get thses parts ordered asap...thanx

I believe the discs for the 1.8 8valve are fine with the stock flywheel. Call for sure but look at the 8valve discs here...6 button E-Z Lock (sprung hub) clutch for Volkswagen Jetta II

after speaking to numerous people the best thing to do is replace fw as well. Also the fellow at germanautoparts suggest that i not use the lw fw because of possible chatter. I have read people on here saying the same thing. question is, is the chatter excessive or drownd out buy these noisey diesels anyway?? thanx for ur imput , theman
