I have a 1991 Jetta 1.6 N/A but my IP has the "spaceship" diaphram thing on top. Is this a TD pump?
I just aquired a 1990 1.6 N/A complete motor and the IP on that one does not have the spaceship. This came out of a 1990 Golf.
Thanks
Most likely it's an ALDA which reduces the fueling at low atmospheric pressure, like climbing a mountain.
If I am climbing a mountain why would I want to reduce fueling? Wouldn't I want more fuel to help me up the mountain?
The other IP that I have does not have the spaceship. Is that a better pump?
Thanks

When your climbing the oxygen is getting thinner so you can't burn all that fuel anyways, that's when a turbo would come in handy
.
Take a picture of the pump and post it if you can.
Whichever pump runs better on the engine is the better pump. In stock, freshly rebuilt form they basically the same AFAIK
