She Finally wants a VW!!!
« on: June 28, 2009, 11:25:52 am »
So after i;ve been looking around at some old MK2s, girlfriend finally said she would like to have one, or when she gets a new car a GTI. Well I manage to find a 1980 VW Cabrio...in need of a motor, for well comes with a fox for parts...for 750$...maybe cheaper then that since we are only going to take teh Cabrio. I Finally got her in the dub world... ;D , not sure if its going to be a AAZ or a VR6... hehehe it only took her a year to come over to teh dub side.

Make sure it doesn't become full of problems, or she may become a 'dub hater!  :(

She knows most of the problems with dubs, If we do get the cabrio its going to take all summer but i'll make sure the Body and everyting is in good shape before I drop in a motor. Shes got a New car right now. Plus I know where there is a MK2 GLI. She was looking at a New GTI also lol.

Teach her to start only using the clutch, no throttle at all in a parking lot. Once she can do that, the rest is gravy.

I showed her yesterday with my car, and my car is hard as hell to drive, The gears are sticky, the clutch requires alot of force to push and its VERY picky on how yopu take off, take off wrong it will stall...I spin all teh time l;ol

Explain to her how a clutch actually works, that's what finally helped me understand how to drive a stick.

Same here! Understanding what pushing your foot to the floor is doing, helps a lot. Just like anything i suppose.

You are lucky if your GF wants to know how it works.  My wife just wants to drive it and the theory is meaningless...

When I taught my sister how to drive the theory helped even though she didn't want to hear it.

Any pics of the new vehicular?
