Used a Dremel with cut-off wheel- a few minutes well spent. Now I can fully open the clamps and slide them back without fighting and cursing.

those clamps are pointless without the proper tool to remove them. i wonder if over extending them might reduce their spring effect, reducing the clamping force?

I use the Torque silicone clamp on all of mine...
i use an irwin quick grip for those clamps. Easy Peasy!
Ummmm... I've popped most of those off with my hands. Is that bad?

Put my thumb on one tab, rest the other against the side of the forefinger, and squeeze the daylights out of it.
Now, can't get some of the smaller ones, but the coolant hose clamps I haven't really ever had too much problem with. Sometimes I have to break out the palm and a short bit of flat bar to squeeze with my whole hand.
As much of a pain in the ass as these things can be, they look about 100x better than stupid screw clamps.

Agreed. self tensioning is goodness. With the tang cut, the clamp is now a breeze to squeeze to slide over the bead.
