'97 Jetta - 4Dr - 1.9 TiDi (Forth Car)

'94 Jetta - 4Dr - 2.0L Swaped in an AZZ - Almost done 2011 b4 Winter (Third Car)

Blue '87 Golf - 2Dr - Tags (First Car)
Red '92 Jetta (W) - 4Dr - Sold to Friend For $200 (Second Car)

looks like they have you on the right track.  common thing on vws.  especially when people replace the clutch but not the actuator plate or the bushing.

So how do you get this not to happen???Replace the actuator plate and bushing? I don't want this to happen to me when I put the engine in.

best put in a new throwout bearing or check if it spins freely and is not loaded with crap - next put a new bushing in the main shaft for the pushrod - what happens is that if the bushing is knackered your pushrod sits skewed and stops spinning, or your clutch bearing siezes to spin while your clutch assy is - the rod then machines the plate - voila hole in plate...

Also, sitting in gear with the clutch in rapidly increases wear. Put it in neutral and let the clutch out.

Reminds me of the guys I see slipping the clutch to hold the car on a hill at a traffic light.

I see punk teenagers (my generation sadly) in there civcs and cavaliers.. riding the clutch a loT! i mean when they start off they must start at like 3500 and the nease the clutch on till the car is going whatever speed is at 3500.. slipping it the whole way.... makes me laugh lol

some people don't understand how an engine works period and think they can make it into a race car and be some hot shot race car driver in the city. Try and understand that one.
