hey guys as i said i am new to diesels but i just wanted to know that if i put the foot down allot will i break some thing? or burn, break, ware out some thing much faster i mean no power shifting just normal shifts but foot down allot how will the engine respond to it thanks
if you have lots of black smoke coming out your tailpipe, then a lot more soot is being deposited into your oil which will wear down your engine faster. not to mention that your EGT's are probably really high and thats not good either.
well right now when i put the foot down just a haze of black smoke comes out but if the engine is running 100% will it matter if i keep flooring it

you can get away with about 5 seconds or so of flooring it. going any longer than that all depends on how much cash you have, and how big your balls are. black smoke is just unburnt fuel, so it hurts you in the wallet, and inside the engine, but i must admit that i fell in love with diesel because of it
currently i have an FS-2500 bypass filter installed that filters out the soot from the oil, which would really help in your situation. high soot levels in the oil are very bad, and the single most reason for early oil changes in diesel engines. with the high sulphur diesel, frequent oil changes were required due to the depletion of alkaline reserves in the oil. with ultra low sulphur diesel, thats not really the case anymore.. so you could probably go 100,000km on the same oil IF you get the soot out, and theres no coolant/water (the FS-2500 absorbs water as well...) getting into the oil.
Because the soot is so abrasive inside the engine, your butt dyno should give you a little bit of a power drop when its getting close to do an oil change. be sure to buy a good diesel oil like rotella, or splurge for a synthetic oil if your car doesn't leak/burn much.
forgot to add... the mods might want to move this post to the IDI forum
FS-2500 bypass filter ... What application did you use to order it?... or do they have a universal kit for smaller engines?

i got mine off ebay. its super expensive... i've considered buying the aluminum stock and having it machined/welded and just use their filters. probably cost about $100 or so. i paid about $300 with shipping for mine..
i've only driven the car about 500km but the oil is only slightly darker (it only filters a percentage of the oil). it definitely works!
