wireless forum access
« on: June 14, 2009, 11:28:44 pm »
I do a lot of reading and posting to this forum from my phone. However, I can only connect to the WAP forum with its limited functionality, i.e. I can't see pics, can't search, can't quote etc. Is there a way to connect to the full site from my phone?

Depends on what phone you have and what it's capable of.

Some phones have their own customized web browser and display it as best as possible.

What phone do you have?

Does your phone display images from imageshack or photobucket usually?

I'd try another browser if there is one available for your phone (I imagine there is an Opera Mini or Firefox that'll run on a BlackBerry)

My telco for my cell phone prompts me if my phone can't display it properly then they render it in a basic form my phone to handle, though this site seems to be displaying OK for me.

I have a Treo 650 and Blazer is the browser, it displays photobucket images no problem. I think the forum s/w sees that it's a wireless device and sends out the WAP forum data with its limilted functions.

My iPhone renders it perfectly. No reduction in function. ;-)

ok Arb rub it in. I tried out the new Palm Pre as well as the Iphone and they had full functionality on this forum. Looks like I need a new browser that is html capable. Is opera mini?

Nope, its a Kodak Z650 (6m) - had the best user interface at the time. I don't worry about getting grease on the Kodak, but the iPhone, I try not to abuse it ;-)

I do not abuse my phone. I keep it clean and wipe it off often. I got it when it came out 3 years ago and it's been on me constantly (in the holster as long as I'm awake). I even crawl under the car with it. Nothing has broke and it works like new. Screen is not scratched but the paint has worn off some from going in and out of the holster a million times and that's about it! The keypad works fine, no broken or sticky keys and I've typed a lot with it. I am actually pretty impressed how reliable it has been. :)
