Same ::)
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I have quite a bit of experience with prothe.  I have bought parts from him on eBay and on his site.  I agree the site could be more organized.  The first thing that I bought from him was a turbo, the turbo its self was great but the adaptor plates leaked.  He replaced it right away with one that works great; in fact it is bigger than the factory one, which works great for my application.  I have also bought a whole bunch of other parts including a Head.  Most of us driving these cars cannot pay dealer prices, so I think that prothe is really offering a great service to those of us that cannot afford oem parts.  I mean who can afford to spend 2 or more thousand dollars on a rebuild when the car isn’t worth much more than that.

I cannot vouch for others experiences but mine have been good so far, and I know others that will say the same.

and I know plenty who won't. I personally think it's a mixed bag with this guy. Some people end up very happy and save a lot of money ;D, and I know some people end up not so happy and spend a lot more than if they had just gone with a "professionally" rebuilt part :'(. But I do think that "prothe" has been making an effort to clean up his act. As I've noticed a lot less prothe bashing rants concerning defective parts.

I to agree, I think he is starting to clean up his act..   From what I have noticed so far his service has improved..  He's still reluctant to tell the source (as in manufacturer) of most of his parts..  Pick and choose wisely and one can make out all right.. Still avoiding the IP's!!!

I took a chance and purchased a waterpump and lower gasket set when I purchased my pistons from him..  The waterpump and gaskets were made in China, just like the name brand stuff that cost 2x as much.... The waterpump actually looks to be made BETTER than the one I paid more for on the other car..  We'll see how it lasts...

The $18 IP seals I bought years ago (and waited forever for with no email response) are still going strong after 150K miles..

so does he just have the same site under a bunch of different names. i was just wondering because someone was referring someone to the site on the vortex, and i haven't seen it under that name before.  I didn't know that you could host a website under multiple domain names.

WOW !!!  Its true. His ebay store has zero items. He had 98% good feedback on over 10,000 sales. Quite a good record for the volume to walk away from. I would why ? I got an email response from him when I started looking at my over heated head, but he didn't indicate he was changing things.

I bought a locking gas cap, a trunk lock and a head light switch from him. The keys looked different, but worked in both locks! :D  The parts were very cheap in price I have to say. The switch turned out to be useless. The first click, I get the head light (should be parking light), second click I get the parking light but no headlight :D meaning I can't get parking and headlights working at the same time :D This reminds me I have to contact him about it.

Have you installed the pistons yet ?  I've wondered about them myself.  I just got a set from Parts Place last winter {King} is the brand and I have about 4,000 on my T/D with them and they seem fine so far.  I have a feeling they might be Chinese too but I could be wrong.  I did have a problem with one though when I opened the boxes one of them had a wrist pin hole machined wrong but they straightened the problem out finaly after sending me a 1.9 piston next instead of 1.6 .020 oversize.

Still waiting to get my block back from the machine shope... I told them no hurry since I didn;t really have the extra cash to be builing and engine at the time..  ::)

Upon inspection they seem to be fine..  They guys at HP Engines gave them the thumbs up and they be picky sum buggers.. Weight and dimenstions were dead on across the board..  Castings were fairly clean as well..

 As they stated at the machine shop, like most everything else there are very few companies that make pistons anyhow, and they are mostly in Asia...

Rightway Industrial (Trim) who makes the prothe pistons also makes pistons and other various parts for: Kolbenshmidt K.K. , TRW, Mazda/Ford, Nissan, Honda, Yamaha, ZF, and Denso  as well as some others..

i think it would very funny if prothe's pistons are indeed the same as kolbenshmidt's.
