Crazy fuel gauge after AAZ swap?
« on: June 06, 2009, 05:10:33 pm »
Here's the situation  :) fuel tank, wiring and cluster are  1998 ABA 2.0L. Engine is 1994 AAZ and fuel sender/ pickup are from the AAZ. The gauge reads perfect from full to 3/4.....and from 1/4 to empty. Between 1/4 and 3/4 the gauge is all over the place..... sweeps from side to side and generally acts in a random fashion.

I was having fueling issues early on in the swap and thats when i switched senders, i would like to leave the diesel sender in the tank. I'm figuring it's a issue where in the range from the diesel sender is not compatable with the gasser gauge.

I want to use the gasser cluster for the tach ( orederd a DSL-1) and since all the other gauges/ lights are sorted out and working well, i don't want to swap to the old beat up diesel cluster, plus sold the gasser fuel pump sender already :)
For now i'll track liters/ mileage and carry a jerry can, but it wouyld be nice to make it work properly.
