Audi A4 B7 TDI Service Schedule

Hi.  Can anyone advise me on the following.  My Audi A4 B7 has covered 16k km and my dealer has said that, even though there is long life oil in the engine, since I'm only covering about 16k a year, i need to change my oil now.  He furthermore has suggested that I use the non-long life oil as I'll be wasting money otherwise seeing as I'll be servicing at 16k.  Is he correct?  Do I need to get my car serviced now (16K)?  Thanks
