k14 wastegate question
«

I had my k14 hotside bored out to fit a 50 trim k14 from an om606 merc, I read on here the wastegate was a problem once winded in to over 18psi, iirc it was libbybaba post and he said the springs were almost completely crushed to the point the wastegate could not open. I was running 25psi ok but when I upped the fuel a little the wastegate may as well not be there, it pegs the 30psi boost gauge at full throttle
Question is would a boost controller solve this issue? ie wind the gate down to standard 15psi and fit a bleed valve or dawes device?

i've also read that the k14 waste gate is super finicky, and that yes, a boost controller is your best bet
also, a k14 is way out it's efficiency range at 30 psi. 15-18 should be the max

I have a spring and ball type boost controller on my K14 and it is set to 20PSI. It works really well. It is the poor little turbo that is at its limiting the potential of this setup.
here is what I did. I beaded the pipe where I cut it with my bubble flare tool I had for the brake lines.
Here it is in situ. It is positioned so that it is easy to adjust.
