the 170pd engines are not good for conversions due to the DPF (for emissions) and from a finacial point, you may as well get a 2.0 140 PD and fit the 170 turbo for a reliable 220-230hp all day!

you can delete all the emissions stuff from the ECU. i wonder how beefed up the PD170's are? i'd imagine stronger crank & rods than a PD150? better chance of surviving 300hp too

As there are many uk members here you could easily have that delivered to one of us, then another carrier could pick up to ship abroad

WOW that is awesome. Does it swap in? I would assume.. how much does it cost to ship abroad?
i doubt the engine would swap in. most likely the engine mount needs to be swapped to the mk4 if you're planning to put it in one of those (should be a straight swap, but you'll need the vw mk4 engine mount swapped). if going into a mk2, you'll need to get the mounts and weld them onto the frame. it's not impossible, but you want to make sure that you have it nice and secure! you'll want to find someone who can delete the immobilizer as well. they might want to see some bill of sale etc, to make sure its not hot. if you can get the pedal for this car great, if not i'm sure the ECU can be reprogrammed to accept another type. you only need limited sensors to make this work too... i think just the main injector sensors, cam position sensor, crank position sensor, etc. MAF, boost, AIT, etc, will not be needed, but are recommended for maximum performance/economy. the PD's are very popular swap for mk2's

I would recommend not importing a PD-170, and instead would recommend putting in a 2.0 16V CR engine out of a new Jetta already here in the U.S. I imported a PD-150 from the UK a few years ago. What a pain in the ass that was. Lot's of paper work, stupid fees, etc. It was something like $1500, not including the engine. (Which by the way was crap because it had been in a wreck, and the seller didn't tell me the extent of the damage. Of course, he didn't make any attempt to help me out. I ended up parting it out.) Also took 2 months to get here. The PD-150s also use a different ECU with different wiring harness than the U.S.-bound PDs, so you either need all of the original wiring harness, or none of it, and just use a U.S. PD harness.
You could basically make your own PD-1x0 out of a PD-100 and other parts readily available here in the U.S. The pistons are the key. There's a special hole in them that the oil squirters shoot oil into. I saw them for sale here in the U.S. a year or two ago. Something like $800.

the pd100 is not just a 170 engine detuned. The prices you pay for stuff like this over there is incredible. Its also funny to hear problems with mountings, wiring etc because there is a lot of impressive fabrication on this and tdiclub that makes an engine swap (that is complete with loom and ecu) seem basic in comparison.
If anyone has an idea of the weight and dimensions of the engine go on

from what i've read, the PD130 and PD150 are the same other than turbo. i'm pretty sure they have all around stronger/better parts.

I'll have these pistons available soon if you guys have any interest, at a much better price too

I'm looking for these engines (2.0L 16v PD) to go instead of my 1.9 PD150 8v. Is it a good upgrade?
It's quite easy to find BKD - BKP 140bhp engines and more difficult for the PD170. Is there any big difference for the engine? (I know the difference about the ECU, DPF)
Thanks

ARL PD150 is better engine than 2.0L 170..
only with bigger turbo you will reach 230hp/stock nozzles limit/

I actually have a ARL with GTB2260VK, FMIC, 220 nozzles, custom chip @ 30PSI. I was looking for an upgrade to this one!

better upgrade your ARL...
-race camshaft
-ported head
-bigger valves
-pistons with lowered CR

I think next upgrade will be a CRDI engine, but the problem is the ECU vs piezo injectors. There's a kit that exists but it's about $4000!!
