Anyone deal with Autohaus AZ?
« on: June 01, 2009, 10:00:49 am »
Need a clutch for the 89.  Parts Place, Inc. has the clutch kit for $140.

However, AZ has one for $90. Both places are using  Fiechtel-Sachs.

Difference is, PP says the clutch is 200mm for the 89 1.6 NA, whereas AZ says variations exist.

As usual,I leave it up to the experts.. :).

Is there any variation?

Are there better places to get the clutch kit from?

Has anyone had a problem dealing with either place? I personally have never had a problem with PPI, tho AZ has cheaper prices. Even reman. injectors are $39.00. Good price, or am I going to get what I pay for?

And again, thanks in advance.

Stay safe, stay well. Jimmy

I think this is a situation where you get the opposite of what you pay for.  I deal with AutohausAZ.com all the time.  Great prices, good quality, excellent customer service.  I've found the opposite to be true with PartsPlaceInc.  Over-priced, borderline idiotic sales people, hit or miss on quality and abysmal customer service.  Ach, spit...

LOLOL, can't please everybody, I guess. I'm just leery of ordering the clutch from AZ and it's the wrong one. Agreed, prices at AZ are great. Clutch is $50 cheaper from them, and injectors are about $20 cheaper as well.
Dealt with PPI before the internet, and never a problem. But thanks for the reassurance that you don't 'get what you pay for' with AZ.

I've only ever had one issue with AutohausAZ, and it involved a water pump that wasn't as advertised. I asked before I ordered if part number "blah blah blah blah" was a cast-impeller pump or a stamped steel pump, was assured it was the former so I ordered. Got a stamped steel one, but they didn't make returning the pump difficult.

Other than that, good place. AutohausAZ, GermanAutoParts and now Classic Garage are my go-to places for parts to keep up and improve the older fleet.

Classic garage had the clutch even cheaper than AZ. Waiting to hear from them. And a short drive upstate to get it.

Thanks to all. Stay safe, stay well. Jimmy

AZ autohaus rocks. Constantly ordering from them. I dig free shipping on orders of 50 bucks. Im still trying to decide if I should pay to ship my starter core back or eat the 30$ core. ha.

germanautoparts was awesome too. Called me right away when they rang into a backorder issue on some tools. I dig them too.  ;D

I've purchased ~$X,XXX.xxs in parts from AutohausAZ over the years. I had one issue, incorrect part was shipped, I was in a pinch and pressed for time, they overnighted the correct part. Good Parts and Customer Service.

I have yet to order from partsplace.

parts4vws gets a big thumbs up from me as well.

AS USUAL, top notch replies. And AS USUAL, my grateful thanks. Just came back from Chicago and will get the clutch from classic garage. Even have a friend in a neighboring firehouse who lives near them and will pick it up for me.

Now I need prayers from everyone for trying to do it myself.......lolol
