Ebay BS
« on: May 26, 2009, 05:31:28 pm »
So I was watching 2 turbos, one from a VW 5cyl (t25?) the other from a 1.6TD (T3)  & a 5 cyl turbo injection pump from a single seller on ebay... "beromotors". All OEM & appeared to be brand new. The auctions were very poorly titled & there were almost no bids. The turbos I missed, both went dirt cheap & I got the pump for $65CAD. Screaming deal right?

Just got this message from the seller:

"this item has been damaged and is not as
represented. You will recieve an email from Ebay
voiding this auction. My apologies."

Sure. I Bet the turbo's got "damaged" to...

Your saying you paid and then this happened? I'd complain real bad.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I love it when you later see the damaged item relisted with either a reserve or at a higher starting bid.  Oh well, I guess they need to recoup the repair costs.   About the only thing you can do is leave negative feedback.   Usually people cancel the listing seconds before it ends and claim it got damaged.  EBay does frown on this practice as it is a way of circumventing eBay's fee system, but legally you would need to address it with the courts in the jurisdiction where the seller lives, which almost always makes it prohibitively expensive.

I didn't have a chance to pay before the damaged message was sent. Very lame.

Just got a reply from the seller:

"all items damaged in a flood. May be relisted once inspected by rebuilder"

Lame.
