Cleaning out the garage. This was pulled from a 1986 Jetta TD. I've never seen or heard it run, however was told by PO that it had been parked due to a leaking IP seal. It all looks intact, and turns over freely by hand. I was holding onto this for spares for our TD Jetta, but it appears that it will not be needed.
I do not know how many miles it has; the car it came out of had 225,000 miles listed but it may not be original.
It is being sold as-is in a rebuildable/core condition. Honestly I would at least pull the IP and reseal. All accessories are included, which means with a little cleanup and work this is essentially a complete swap.
This motor has a ton of somewhat rare TD parts that could also be used to do a full NA->TD conversion.
All this needs to run as a swap would be the glow plug relay wired up OR 12V supplied to the glow plug bus via a switch, and 12V to the fuel shutoff solenoid at the injection pump.
What you are getting:
1986 TD block & mechanical lifter head - this has the oil squirters which the NA motors lack
TD intake & airbox
TD exhaust manifold with T3 turbo and downpipe. I sawzalled the exhaust off after the toilet bowl flange.
TD injection pump with the LDA "needs reseal"
TD injectors & hardlines
Diesel vacuum pump
AC Compressor
Alternator
Tested good Bosch quick-glow relay
Has a set of glowplugs in it and I will toss in 4 used, "good" spares
