Bought a turbo - VNT 15? Few questions?
« on: May 05, 2009, 08:05:28 am »
I've just bought  a KK3 turbo with the folowing info on it

KUND NR 03G 253 014 M-V020
LADER K1 710025016 00929
AUSF NR BV39A-0072

It came from a totalled mk5 golf with less than 1000miles on the clock and is mint.

The turbo is part of the manifold and is very small.

It looks like it already has the perfect location for a pyro

But is missing a fitting flange on the oil IN port - where can I get info from regards getting a new one.

Vagcat shows a similar turbo but not the same.

And my copy of ETOS is too old

picture soon...

done a dumb thing though.

fitted the manifold and turbo upside down, so the OIL IN port is actually the OIL OUT port and it all matches the images on VAG cat and ETOS.

so now the exhaust exits the wrong way to fit my downpipe and the air filter is on the wrong side - which actually is a much better setup for my intended application. Makes it much tidier. :D

there it is, pretty clean and small, will it pump hard enough for my needs? The recipient is in the background of this photo - no not the skateboard.

With my little helper, while daddy worked on the car, he was putting things in the tumble dryer spinning them and taking them out again, over and over and over again - anything to hand went in, clothes, shoes, tools radio controlled car...... awww bless! Say cheese!

im 99% positive thats a KKK KP39A.
that looks just like all the other ones ive seen.
plus it has v band exhaust couplings.
and the egr port points straight out on that one.
the one on my VNT is totally different.
plus the numbers you rattled off on your first post sounded like KKK numbers. its quite possible im wrong, but ive never seen a garrett that looked like that. it looks very KKK to me.

That looks downright big compared to the one I have. I'll have to post up some pics. I imagine it would produce rod-bending low-end boost if you wanted it to.

Hurrah!! Sounds like my £75 gamble done well!  8)
