Frankenmotor, well sort of....
« on: May 03, 2009, 02:10:43 pm »
So heres my dilemma. With a trip to Europe approaching in early fall I don't have lots of money to throw at a new head or even rebuilding an old head. I've searched for a TD hydro head that doesnt have cracked precups but have had no luck. I do have my old mechanical head which is in great shape. Problem is, my block is hydraulic. I will be using head studs and a metal head gasket. Is using my mech head on my hydro block as easy as plugging the second oil drain?

Sorry yes, 1.6L Hydro Bottom end, 1.6 mech head.

But wont my N/a head be 11mm, will it work with 12mm studs?

The N/A is an 81 motor.

Side note: I put one of my 12mm bolts in the holes and they fit no problem.
