Just how restrictive is the standard 1.6 intake manifold?

I have got my 1.6 engine in the Skoda pickup, I will take pics tomorrow.

Now I had planned to try my BV50 turbo but it's just no going to fit correctly.

So next I plan to retain the 1.6 K14 I have and run the 1.6 block but with the 1.9 head. The way the engine sits in the Skoda it tilts forward and shutting the bonnet is becoming an issue. It shuts but the turbo touches the bonnet.

I could use the NA exhaust manifold to run the turbo low at the back of the engine and adapt my intake to work with boost, but it's going to be a lot more work.

So basically is the standard 1.6 intake going to ruin any gain made with my 1.9 head?

I dunno if it's restrictive so much as it biases airflow toward the center two cylinders.

You could get a nice gasser manifold, port match to your 1.9 head, and just have to fab up a quick and simple adapter to go in place of the throttle body. Less cylinder bias, at least, and it's intercooler ready at that point.

The trouble is I don't have clearance to fit an intake that tall. So it needs to be lower.

You can't source a gasser Skoda manifold? That's weird that it cants the engine forward.

Well the wife took the camera away with here today so here's some pics with the 1.9 engine in showing how far forward it sits, so you can imagine with 1.6 in and turbo up high.







How much boost do you think that plastic inlet would handle???  :lol:
