Changing the Serpintine Belt? (AAZ)
« on: April 20, 2009, 05:29:27 pm »
ok so my alternator finaly took a *** and i replaced the 70amp one with a 120amp one from a VR6 Corrado, everything fits, the only diff. is the pully is 6 grove and mine is 5, anyways theres an extra grove so i got everything going and woked perfect (looked straight after a few beers!!)

anywyas to make a long story short since it was just alittle off it cut my belt, like 1 grove is gone know, so now i have a 4 grove belt!!!! works fine but am replacing it this weekend i just have to swap pullies so everything aligns.

how do i change the belt? do i have to take the little pullie off at the bottom that has another belt on it>
i just need some insight on how to do it! i can get the belt for 25.00 so i dont wanna pay someone 100.00 to get it all done!

if anyone can tell me what to do i would appriciate it!!

thanks

swap your pullies so you have the same amount of grooves. And you have to take the v belt off first then put a wrench on the idler pulley nut and push it back to take the tension off the serp belt. Thats all there is to it.

can you do this all from the top? my car sits very low and cant get an arm under there and i hate having to jack up each side to do something as simple as an oil change!!

Power steering pump slides. There is a bolt that loosens on the back of it it should slide over enough to get the V belt off.
