Intake hose popping off turbo?
« on: April 22, 2009, 04:50:18 pm »
Never really seen this before, the intake hose on my '97 AAZ Golf keeps popping off the turbo.

I screw it down snug but 10 minutes later it's slid off again.  Anything I should be looking at?  The airbox is seated in it's locating hole, the crank vent hose seems to be fully seated.  I'm not sure what else could be causing the problem.

I don't want to reef on the thing and cut off the end, but I'm getting a little perturbed.

Are you sure it is sliding on all the way? Sometimes the clamp hits the wastegate fittings and stops the hose from sliding home.

Nope, all the way in, I needed to rotate the clamp around a bit to get it fully seated.

That just might be it.  The clamp's a standard sized Tridon, not the VW one which is slightly skinnier, so it's not seating in the groove.

I must have grabbed the wrong one when I changed the head gasket not long ago.

Thanks for the ideas!
