1.9 head on .1.6 block

So I was test fitting the 1.9 head to a 1.6 block and there seem to be some extra gallies close to the valves that aren't on 1.6 heads or blocks. They are really small anyone know what the heck these are, will this head work????

is it a solid lifter 1.6l?
